MISSION
ICMR - DHR MedTech Product Development Acceleration Gateway of India (mPRAGATI) is a National Centre under the Medical Device and Diagnostics Mission Secretariat (MDMS), sponsored by Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and Department of Health Research (DHR) for development of medical devices and technology and ISO 13485* certified manufacturing and ISO 17025* certified testing. This National Centre is a major investment by ICMR towards translation of medical devices from proof of concept to commercial products.

Salient features of the centre:
1. Translation of MedTech technologies via synergistic collaboration of MedTech innovators with engineering, and medical Institutions and regulatory agencies
2. One stop facility for device fabrication (mechanical and instrumentation) with intent to reduce turnaround time.
3. Accelerated regulatory compliances mandated by Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO).
The facility has also been established with an intent to enable medical device start-ups manufacture products in an ISO certified manufacturing facility and obtain ISO certifications for themselves. It will also play a major role in cutting down initial time and resource invested by early stage start-ups in translating proof of concept to commercial products.

The National Centre was formally inaugurated Prof. Balram Bhargava, Director General, ICMR on 24th June 2022.
